The base coat of the stucco is on! When you guys come in
July we will pour concrete stoops in front of the doors. We'll
put Charlie's and Avery's footprints in them to match the one's
of Taylor and Jess by the back door.

All the taping and bedding (first coat only) is completed for
the bedroom and bathroom. Steady progress is being made.
My motto is, "Every task done today is one that doesn't
have to be done tomorrow." Looking forward to the help in July.

 

Hey, wanna see two really cool grandkids?
Well, we've got 'em. This is Jess at her 8th grade graduation
ceremony at MVCS. Notice the great smile and the shear
beauty. Most recently she made the alternate team for a
regional select under 14 volleyball team and tried out for the
LCHS Girls Acapella Choir. We don't know about the results
of the choir tryout, but how could they refuse her (you've heard
her sing)?
Then there's Taylor. He's so cool they don't need an air conditioner
in the gym. He and Claud are in Missouri this week
at a point guard camp. He was the starting point guard for the
Hatch Valley Bears as a Freshman and will really bring it on in
his Sophmore year. Next week they will spend a week in
Arizona at team camp. It won't be long and he will have his
driver's license.
I see him often enough driving the truck even now. Hmmm!

 

Lots of people have helped get the sheetrock up. Mom has been a trooper. The Gobbles and the Sparks brought much needed help at just the right time. Kyle Sparks, who works at NASA with me, and his wife Michelle helped me finish out the shop. Thanks, everyone, for your help.

 

Mom received these beautiful flowers from her sons on Mother's Day. Thanks Ryan and Trevon.
As you can see, we've started the taping and bedding in the attic.
I'm seeing a pretty nice playroom for young grandchildren and hangout place for teenage grandchildren.
Can you envision this with Pergo flooring, a few rugs, some beanbag chairs, a TV with a Sega (or whatever)? Taylor and Jess, this is as much for you as it is for Avery and Charlie.

 

We had a great time when Taylor and Claud came to help with the ceiling.
It would have been impossible for mom and me to do this by ourselves.

Almost every one was active and hardworking... some watched.

 

This will give you an idea of what the kid's attice will look like. You can imagine a stairway/ladder at about the angle of the 2x10 leaning against the scaffolding. Then, imaging a rail that will keep your precious ones from falling from the stairway and the landing.
The large opening will be closed up with a removable wall section. Having this larger access will enable us to get larger items into the attic.
Can you imagine this with some miniature furniture, a toy box...
...a little TV playing Barnie or Veggie Tales or whatever?

The walls and ceiling of the bedroom are sheet-rocked.

All that remains in the shop is the ceiling.
